Save the date for international guests

When inviting guests from different countries, it can be helpful to use the online invitation together with the Add to calendar feature. This allows international guests to clearly see when the event takes place and save the date directly in their own calendar.

This helps prevent confusion about time zones and often makes planning travel or accommodation easier.

Useful alongside a printed invitation

Many people still send printed cards within their own country. For guests abroad, however, a digital invitation can be much more practical.

For example, you might send a printed card to family and friends in the same country, while sharing the link to the online invitation with international guests. They can then immediately add the event to their calendar using the Add to calendar button.

This has several advantages:

  • the date is immediately saved in the guest’s calendar
  • time zones are automatically displayed correctly
  • guests can easily return to the invitation through the link in their calendar
  • updates to the program or information remain visible on the webpage

Livestreams with the correct time

Automatic time zone recognition is especially useful when guests join from different countries. This is particularly important when the event includes a livestream or live video connection. Guests will automatically see the correct local time in their calendar, so everyone knows exactly when to join.

What is an ICS file?
The calendar feature uses a so-called .ics file. This is a standard format supported by almost all calendar apps. The file contains the date, time, location and link to the event so calendars can add it automatically.
