Using the “Add to calendar” button

With the Add to calendar button, guests can add the event directly to their own calendar. This ensures the date immediately appears in their schedule and they receive reminders through their calendar app.

The button appears on the online invitation alongside other actions such as RSVP, directions, and the guestbook.

Add the event to a calendar

When a guest clicks Add to calendar, a window appears with several calendar options. The guest selects the calendar they use and adds the event with a single click.

Window with calendar options such as Google Calendar, Yahoo Calendar, Outlook and Apple iCal

Ask guests to add the event to their calendar as soon as they receive the invitation. If important details change, send a short message with the invitation link so guests can immediately see the latest information.

What appears in the calendar

The calendar automatically uses the information from the invitation:

- the name of the event
- the date and time
- the location
- a link to the online invitation

Example of how the event appears in a calendar

The calendar entry also contains a link to the online invitation. Guests can open it later to return directly to the invitation and view the most up-to-date information.

If details change later

Sometimes you may update the online invitation after sending it. For example, you might add extra information or make a small change to the program. In most cases it is enough to send guests a short message with the invitation link and ask them to review the updated details.

The invitation page always contains the most recent information.

Only when date, time or location change do guests need to add the event again using the Add to calendar button. This ensures the updated information is also reflected in their calendar.

What is an ICS file?
The calendar feature uses a so-called .ics file. This is a standard format supported by almost all calendar apps. The file contains the date, time, location and link to the event so calendars can add it automatically.
