Sharing with international guests

When inviting guests from different countries, it helps to be extra clear. Small differences in language, date formats and time notation can otherwise quickly lead to confusion.

With a few simple choices, you can make sure international guests immediately understand the invitation.

Choose a clear language

When inviting international guests, it is usually best to use a language that everyone understands. In many cases, English is the most practical choice.

You can also use short and simple sentences so the invitation remains easy to read for everyone.

Write dates in full

The order of day, month and year differs between countries. Because of this, something like 03/04/2026 can cause confusion. It is often better to write the date in full, for example:

12 June 2026
Saturday, 12 June 2026

This makes the intended date immediately clear for everyone.

State the time clearly

Time notation also differs between countries. It is usually best to show the time clearly and preferably use the 24-hour format. For example:

Start: 18:00
Dinner: 19:30

For international events it can also help to clearly mention the city or location.

The “Add to calendar” button automatically places the event in the guest’s calendar with the correct time zone. This allows everyone to see exactly when the event takes place, regardless of where they are located. This is especially helpful when guests join from different countries or when the event includes a live video connection.

Keep the information structured

International guests may be less familiar with the location or local customs. Make sure practical information is clearly listed, such as the address and any instructions.

Short headings and clear paragraphs help guests quickly find the most important information.
