Sometimes a guest reports that they see an older version of the invitation. In most cases this happens because the browser shows a previously stored version of the page. This is known as cache.
The invitation itself has already been updated, but the guest’s device still shows an earlier stored version.
Reload the page
The easiest solution is to reload the page. This can be done using the refresh button in the browser or with a keyboard shortcut. Below are the most common combinations for Windows and Mac.
| System | Browser | Refresh | Hard refresh (without cache) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows | Chrome, Edge, Firefox | F5 or Ctrl + R | Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + R |
| Mac | Chrome, Edge, Firefox | Cmd + R | Cmd + Shift + R |
| Mac | Safari | Cmd + R | Option + Cmd + R |
A normal refresh reloads the page. A hard refresh forces the browser to load all elements again from the server instead of using a stored version.
Open the link again
If a guest has opened the invitation earlier, it can help to open the link again from the original message or email.
Sometimes it also helps to copy the link again and paste it into the browser.
Check on another device
Ask the guest to open the link on another device if possible, for example on a computer instead of a phone.
If the newest version appears there, the issue is usually related to the cache on the first device.
What you can test yourself
Not sure whether the correct version is visible? You can perform a few simple checks yourself.
- open the invitation link on your phone
- open the same link on a computer
- open the link in a different browser
If the invitation appears correctly everywhere, guests will normally also see the latest version.
